Even in the heart of winter we can all look forward to the joys of warmer weather and summer vacations. As a matter of fact what better way to spend a cold winter's night than planning time away with the family in a beautiful environment?

Here are five that you'll want to put at the top of your list of places to visit when you go to the Adirondacks.

1. Seagle Music Colony in Schroon Lake.
For the past hundred years or so, the Seagle Music Colony has been offering performance opportunities to talented singers from around the world. You will be able to enjoy their performances while enjoying the music theater and operas that are available to the public.
The Seagle Music Colony also has training for both aspiring and professional musicians. This Adirondack gem has drawn countless music lovers to their concerts, master classes, musicals, and operas in a gloriously tranquil setting.

2. Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts at Blue Mountain Lake.
Though it's been in existence for a little less than half the time that Seagle Music Colony has been catering to the arts, you won't want to miss any of the three galleries which exhibit contemporary as well as traditional art in virtually any medium. And you don't have to wait for summer to see photography, acrylic, oil, and watercolor paintings, pencil drawings, wood, metal, fiber, stone, and ceramic sculptures and more at the Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts because the galleries are open year round.

3. Blueseed Studios at Saranac Lake
If you want to see Adirondack music and artists, or if you are a professional performance or visual artist, you will want to take a look at Blueseed Studios. It's a place where artists can find affordable living and working space on a seasonal basis, where they can let their creative juices flow at reasonable rates.

The first floor of Blueseed Studios is comprised of six studios in the renovated historic warehouse district of downtown Saranac Lake. The second floor is home to a two thousand square foot open studio that features both artificial as well as natural light. And if you just want to enjoy their creativity you can because it's a place where the resident artists perform and display their works.

4. Lake Placid Center for the Arts
This year round facility presents the best of the best in theater, dance, and music along with art exhibitions and award winning films.

5. The Lake Placid Sinfonietta
And if you're at Lake Placid in the summer, you may also want to attend a classical music performance of the Lake Placid Sinfonietta.
